Located in Blaricum, Netherlands, Andrew van Egmond characterizes the landscape with a single diagonal line, redefining the space and orienting direction toward the surrounding natural environment, away from its suburban context.
This site, a linear property, is a striking example of how minimalism and nature can harmonize in residential landscape design.

Transforming the site into a spacious canvas that seamlessly integrates with the broader landscape through strategic plantings, species such as pines, mixed grasses, and birches, create a connection with the local ecosystem.
Creating visual appearance in scale, mass plantings of ornamental grasses provide texture and motion to the landscape. The slender, flexible blades of these grasses sway in the wind, creating a dynamic visual element that adds life and fluidity to the design.

The pavilion designed by De Brouwer Binnenwerk, is one of the properties key features.
The clever use of minimal architectural featuring glass and steel, allows the pavilion to blend with the natural surroundings, creating a tranquil, cohesive space that feels expansive and deeply connected to its environment.

Located near the minimal glass pavilion, is a gravel area framed by floating concrete edges, acting as a modern interpretation of a pool, providing a clean foundation for the pavilion.
The materials used in this project, including black-stained wooden planks, are reminiscent of old sheep shelters, paying homage to the historical architecture of the region while lending a contemporary touch to the garden.

The plantings employed within the gardens encourage habitats that are beneficial to insects, birds, and small mammals. The seed heads throughout the gardens can attract birds, while the dense foliage can offer shelter and nesting spots for wildlife.
With black timber cladding and a steep triangular roof, the overall dark exterior gives the house a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic.
