Nestled in the scenic region of Dutchess County, New York, Turkey Hill Farm is a testament to the transformative power of landscape architecture.
Once an active Christmas tree farm that faced neglect, this property underwent a remarkable rejuvenation under the guidance of Janice Parker Landscape Architects.

The primary objective was to seamlessly place new landscape elements within the old existing environment, creating a cohesive and immersive experience across diverse spaces and historical contexts.
A particularly innovative approach involved repurposing the overgrown Christmas trees.

Rather than remove the Christmas trees entirely, the design team sculpted them into distinctive hedges, preserving and honoring the land’s story while introducing structured greenery into the weathered but wise land.
This method not only preserved the site’s character but also showcased practices of sustainability, and is seen throughout this 50+ acre design.

A similar approach to not clearing and replanting the Christmas trees, preserving species beyond the farm minimized environmental disruption and supported a more sustainable approach to landscape transformation.
The placement of garden moments neighboring existing trees grounds this landscape in its natural setting, while shaping outdoor rooms and framing intentional views organically.
