LaGuardia Design Group Blends Resilience and Nature at this Seascape Home

Rising between a saltwater pond and the Atlantic Ocean, LaGuardia Design Group reimagines coastal living by elevating the landscape ten feet above grade.

Rising gracefully between a saltwater pond and the Atlantic Ocean, LaGuardia Design Group reimagines coastal living by elevating the landscape ten feet above grade to meet FEMA regulations while embracing a harmonious connection to the surrounding landscape.

Facing the challenges of a low-lying flood zone and a high-water table, the project team re-creates the entire site as a sponge-like flowering rain garden, actively mitigating flood risks and nurturing vital pollinator habitats.

Strategically placing rain gardens throughout the site, Seascape Residence is not only detaining rainwater but also weaving in ecological benefits that support biodiversity.

Elevated decking and pervious surfaces reduce runoff and increases infiltration, highlighting a dedication to ecological stewardship and climate resilience.

These strategies come together in a landscape that feels both vibrant and natural, offering a kaleidoscope of color and texture throughout the seasons.

Minimizing traditional lawn space, the design fosters biodiversity and conserves water, while terraced steps and decking connect the elevated residence seamlessly to its environment.

Creating multiple outdoor living spaces on the rear of the home, the landscape is inviting residents and visitors to experience leisure in harmony with the natural rhythms of a coastal setting.

The rear deck is serving as a welcoming refuge, featuring an infinity-edge pool that visually merges with the Atlantic horizon, a built-in fire table for year-round enjoyment, and an alfresco dining area perfect for gatherings and quiet evenings.

These spaces are intentionally designed to encourage outdoor living while responding to the site’s dynamic environment.
