Set within a sweeping Texas estate in Richmond, Texas, Reagan & André Architecture Studio organizes a residence around a primary stone residence framed by a series of white-clad volumes.
Rather than presenting the home as a single monumental structure, the composition recalls the gradual evolution of a traditional farmstead, where individual buildings are connected through a shared material palette, consistent roof forms, and carefully proportioned outdoor spaces.

Arrival unfolds gradually along a gravel drive that winds through expansive lawns before opening to a restrained forecourt.
The use of gravel, informal planting, and broad setbacks reduces the visual presence of the driveway, allowing the landscape to remain the dominant first impression while reinforcing the property’s agricultural character.
Rather than enclosing the site with dense planting, the landscape is intentionally understated.
Large areas of open lawn preserve uninterrupted views toward the surrounding fields, while strategically placed canopy trees provide shade and scale without obscuring the architecture.
Foundation planting is kept low and restrained, allowing the stone walls and white façades to remain prominent within the landscape.
The rear elevation demonstrates how architecture and landscape are composed as a single experience.
A continuous covered porch stretches across the central stone volume, extending the living spaces outdoors while providing shade from the Texas sun.
Full-height glazing strengthens the visual connection between interior rooms and the landscape beyond, encouraging daily life to expand naturally onto the terrace.
Grade changes between the house and lawn are resolved through a series of broad limestone retaining walls and generous stairways rather than steep slopes.
These terraces create distinct outdoor rooms while allowing circulation to remain direct and intuitive. Their generous proportions encourage movement throughout the landscape and provide informal seating overlooking the pool.
Positioned along the central axis of the residence, the swimming pool reinforces the symmetry of the architecture while acting as a reflective foreground to the stone façade.
The broad lawn surrounding the pool creates flexibility for recreation and entertaining, while evenly spaced chaise lounges and restrained planting preserve the openness of the composition.
Supporting structures continue the architectural narrative across the property.
The detached garage and barn adopt the same white siding, gabled roofs, and understated detailing found throughout the estate, allowing these buildings to feel like natural extensions of the original composition rather than secondary additions.
Trellises, climbing vines, and simple fencing further strengthen the rural character without introducing unnecessary ornament.
Material restraint is one of the project’s defining qualities.
Stone, painted siding, gravel, lawn, and limited planting create a palette that feels timeless and regionally appropriate.
Rather than relying on elaborate landscape features, the project achieves its character through proportion, repetition, and the careful relationship between architecture and open space.
