Nestled within the dense vegetation of Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, Rodrigo Oliveira Paisagismo designs a landscape that unfolds gradually along the coastline of Angra dos Reis.
Embracing a site defined by native trees, tropical understory, and ancient rock formations, the new seaside residence emerges as a natural extension of the land.

Positioned slightly above grade to minimize its impact on the terrain, the dense vegetation transitions into a bright clearing overlooking the ocean.
The architecture becomes a natural terrace, creating expansive views of the surrounding islands.
At the foot of the mountain, the experience begins in a shaded garden where the forest canopy filters the light into soft, shifting patterns.
New species blend seamlessly with the existing vegetation, with a botanically diverse landscape including the palms Euterpe edulis and Euterpe oleracea, along with Nephrolepis, Callisia repens, Blechnum brasiliense, Strelitzia augusta, and Epipremnum aureum.
A narrow trail then leads downward toward the pool level, revealing the landscape in careful stages.
Along this descent, groupings of Dypsis lutescens, Chamaedorea cataractarum, Philodendron undulatum, and Philodendron plowmanii create a rhythm of texture and scale.

Large existing boulders remain in place, reinforcing the site’s original character and maintaining its ecological continuity. Their presence emphasizes the design’s goal of integrating the new landscape with the enduring geology of the region.
Through layered foliage, varied heights, and naturalistic composition, the landscape merges effortlessly with the Atlantic Forest, creating a sanctuary where comfort, beauty, and ecological preservation coexist.
